5 Ways to Maintain Your Running Routine |

Running in a Pack
1. Switch Your Location- This may sound like obvious advice, but running down the same road every single day is obviously going to get boring sometime. Instead of taking a left on a certain street, why not take a right? You’re still getting the same exercise but at least you’ll be able to see new things. If your neighborhood is what’s getting you down why not go to a park? This park offers a scenic view and should be very soothing and give you a great sense of adventure and exploration while you run.
2. Join a Gym- Running isn’t something that can only be done outside, and the gym is proof of that. Joining a gym might be just what you need because you can do something like watching TV while running instead of being bored running outside. It may become part of your routine to switch your environment up daily by running at the gym every other day. The gym also adds a social aspect that can be hard to find outdoors.
3. Challenge Yourself- Maybe the reason you’re getting bored or down on your running routine is because you feel like it’s too easy. If you really don’t to feel bored try increasing the pace at which you run for a day. Without challenging yourself you will find it nearly impossible to improve, so it’s important for both developing and maintain your routine as well as becoming a better runner.
4. Cross Train- While not an option for everyone, Cross training is one way that you can make the grind of your everyday run feel less like a chore. If you ever get tired of running, try to integrate swimming for a few days of the week, or maybe ride your bike. It’s important though that you work just as hard when you’re cross training as if you were running.
5. Be Persistent- Try to convince yourself that all of this running is really worth it, because it is! With a little persistence you will find it easy to reach your goal, whether that is losing a few pounds or just developing a running routine!
Like any exercise, it’s important you stay persistent and always keep your eye on the goal when developing a running routine. It may take you a while to really become accustomed to your new schedule but it will all seem worth it once you reach your goal.
