Running on the Treadmill

Everyone runner has considered running on a treadmill instead of running outside before, but is it any better for you or is it worse? Running on a treadmill does have its advantages over running outdoors, but are they enough to sway you to join your gym? This article will list a few reasons why running a treadmill can be more appealing than running outside.

Weather

You look at your TV and the predicted forecast is hail and thunderstorms, are you still going to run outside? Yeah, I didn’t think so. So what do you do now? This is where a treadmill really shines; it’s an indoor exercise that is there unless the power to the gym goes out, but if that happens then you probably should be worrying about exercising now should you. Some people would argue that running in the snow or rain is fine because it would present a greater challenge and that it really doesn’t affect them. It’s not worth the risk of getting sick or possibly slipping and falling however, and this is why a treadmill is a much better option.

Easy

So you’re just starting to your running routine and you’re ready to run a few miles a day, easy right? Wrong. Running requires you to pace your body throughout the exercise and that pacing can be a difficult hurdle to jump for the novice runner. A treadmill can offer you steady pacing that can be increased and decreased to meet your needs. If you feel like you’re becoming too tired while running you can simply step to the sides and set it to a walking mode, this makes the treadmill ideal for beginners and experts alike.

Elevation

Want the same experience of running uphill and on rough terrain that you would get outside? Well that’s no problem because treadmills can be elevated to create a hill like challenge for its runners. This setting can also be adjusted to increase and decrease difficulty for the runner. These settings are ideal if you live in a neighborhood where there aren’t many hills or obstacles that can give you the challenge you need

Safe

Running on a treadmill is more often than not much more safe than running outside. You don’t have the threat of dips in the road or being in a rough neighborhood at the wrong time of day. In the case that you are hurt on a treadmill, your gym will most likely have staff nearby to give you any assistance you need.

With these reasons listed, what’s stopping you from going to your local gym right now and getting on a treadmill?
