Jogging vs. All-Out Running: Which is the better workout?

Both running and jogging are considered types or forms of aerobic exercise. These are great ways to exercise and keep your body healthy. These two forms of aerobic exercises will help you lose excess weight and contribute generally to improving your health. Let’s look at the differences, if any exists. Running can be referred to as the fastest way to move on foot. Running is commonly viewed as an intense type or form of jogging. It will cause you to exert more physical force than jogging. Moreover, it may also require of you to be more athletic than how you normally are.

Jogging on the other hand, is viewed as a milder, more serene version to running.  Although both running and jogging are types of aerobics exercises, you will notice that jogging is a type of running, but completed in a slower more leisurely manner that is more focused on body fitness and healthy living. Running with its intensity of stride lengths at top speed will contribute to body fitness as well. The slower speed associated with jogging demands extra use of muscles as opposed to walking. It constitutes an excellent workout for just about any age group, unlike running which better suits younger more agile people who are looking for a quick workout.

Jogging and all-out running will both form excellent workouts, however many times the more suitable of the two will be determined by the person doing the workout. Both jogging and running will help to reduce excess fats and strengthen muscles and your cardiovascular system. Additionally, both running and jogging will help you to strengthen your heart and bones, giving you extra fitness and at the same time building a stronger respiratory system.

The younger age group may prefer running as a better means of working out because running is done at a faster pace than jogging. It is also more intense, thus causing you to burn more calories than when jogging. Running which is generally done at a speed more than 9mph is arguably declared by many as a better workout, in that it reduces the risks of getting a stroke or breast cancer. People who are maybe at a high risk of diabetes, osteoporosis and hypertension may be prescribed to do some running, which will improve their general health and increase the white blood cells in their bodies.

At the other end of the spectrum, others may argue that jogging is the better workout option, mainly because running can be injurious and dangerous. Jogging gives a good workout without the risks of getting knee injuries, hamstring pulls and twisted ankles. Jogging is done at a slower pace, usually at a speed less than 9 mph and yields great cardiovascular results. Moreover, while you jog, you can easily socialize and feel more relaxed and comfortable, as opposed to running, where if there is a lapse in concentration or one wrong movement of the feet, you might get injured. There are benefits for both running and jogging, however the determination of which of the two will be a better workout will come down to the individual’s preference.
